See pictures here: Länk The party is over but what a party!! BMW cars came from all over Scandinavia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and Finland and off cause from all over Denmark. Around 500 BMW cars had passed our check in, and something in between 4-5.000 spectators, among those a lot of local “speed happy” people who was very interested in the street race. The arrival: As soon as 8.00 am the first travellers arrived, and around 9.00 am the traffic was so heavy, that the Schmiedmann staff, the Home Guard and the beautiful Schmiedmann show-girls, were busy guiding all the arriving BMW’s to the correct parking space, while sorting all the other car brands out, guiding them to another parking space for all non BMW’s. Exhibitors To give the visitors the greatest experience possible, Schmiedmann invited Top notch names in BMW circles. MK Motorsport is one of the “old” well recognized German BMW tuners. Known all over the world in BMW circles, they brought a gold coated BMW E46 MK Motorsport tuned. Racing Dynamics also a world know BMW tuner group, in this occasion they had brought the new BMW X3 in a Racing Dynamics tuned version. Infinitas super charger systems had a BMW Z4 with a whole new super charger-system, a system which is exceptional reliable and easy to mount. Infinitas is the supplier of super charger-systems for the new Alpina 645 CSI BMW showed off their new 1 series, Schmiedmann was proud to the first place where it was presented, before it was shown to the Danish authorized dealers. Others: BMW club Danmark also attend the rally, they told about the club and about the great looking BMW’s they themselves had brought along. Schmiedmann did naturally also show their tuned and styled BMW cars, there were around 15-20 cars from different years and models. Dent Away who repairs dents without the need of recoating the car, also attended. Fleggaard racing 4 all exhibited a real BMW M3 3.2L E36 racing car, and their Dodge Viper supersports-car powered with 473 HP and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4,5 seconds, later on it was to race against the fastest BMW. In addition several spare-parts suppliers and KN air-filters exhibited their products Entertainment: During the day Among those was the local Motor Cross club, who showed off their abilities at a track nearby the rally, this was something the crowd really liked. Also a container with seven gaming computers here kids and childlike souls could play racing games. Schmiedmann’s entertainer took care of the atmosphere, announcing and commenting the different events, and playing music. To those who wanted to see Schmiedmann’s around 200-300 traffic damaged BMW’s; there was an arranged tour on the scrap yard. Here visitors could look for parts they wanted to buy; the part was dismounted immediately, and the visitor could take the part home. Special offers: If the visitors wanted to do at little shopping, the Schmiedmann store was a good place to make a great bargain, for this special occasion the price was lowered further, a lot of visitors took advantage of this great offer, during the rally the Schmiedmann store was full. The big hit was the company Dent Away, who for this occasion, also lowered their price, and repaired dents for only 50 dkr per dent (without the need for repainting afterwards). Usually the price is 500 dkr per dent. If the BMW was wanted to run faster, the BMW could get chip tuned, in Schmiedmann’s repair shop, and that even with a 25% discount, a lot of visitors wanted to make their BMW run faster and the repair shop was full all day. Free: For those who didn’t want to use their wallet, there were a lot of other options. Besides the free entrance, it was also free to participate in the street race, visitors could get new license plates frames and other Schmiedmann products for free, but the hit was the free error readout from the cars control box using the latest BMW tester GT1. Mobile dyno-tester: At the BMW rally two dyno-testers were installed, here participants could measure the amount of horsepower their BMW could perform; this was something both the participants and the spectators were crazy with. The engines were roaring while being pushed to the limit, and finally the sentence was proclaimed through the speaker. Some were disappointed others were gladly surprised when they were told the amount of horsepower their BMW really had. Street race: This event was the absolute peak of the day. Both local and participants gathered eager to see the fast BMW’s compete against each other and not least watch the compete against the super sports car Dodge Viper. It is know as one of the world’s fastest sports cars, it can even take out a Ferrari among others, price about 1.600.000dkr. The street race was extra ordinary, because this was only the second time in Denmark, that street race was permitted on a public road. The race was arranged by Schmiedmann in co-operation with MSS Motor sport Sønderjylland and DASU Denmark Auto Sport Union. The safety was at high priority, the drivers raced with helmets, an ambulance was placed at the starting line and also a doctor. Although there was no need for the doctor or the ambulance, the helmet was needed when the participants smashed their heads in the steering wheel frustrated that they couldn’t take out the Dodge. It should be mentioned that several came close also Schmiedmann’s own Infinitas super charged BMW, but unfortunately they a lot of trouble transferring the power from the engine to the road, the first 20 meters it was all about burning rubber, while the Viper, with the enormous wide tires had no trouble getting a good grip on the road. Results of the day: In context with the days contest Schmiedmann and different suppliers supplied trophies and prices which were presented before the arrangement ended 17.00 PM. The super sports car drove the 208 meter long distance in 8,26 seconds while the fastest BMW a 323CI bi-turbo from Odense drove the distance in 8,86 seconds. The BMW which had the largest amount of horsepower, was a 5’ series 530I from 1988 with bi-turbo, it was measured to 404HP. The winner of the best looking BMW was a rebuild BMW E36 cabriolet from BMW club Rendburg in Germany. This BMW rally was the largest in Denmark ever and a huge success. Schmiedmann will arrange a rally same place next year, if it is possible to get the necessary permissions again. | |
