Hi . sorry i dont write swedish . hope it goes anyway i am "or was" driving a 750 ial 89 e32 and yesterday i had a very loud klonk and then it didnt pull the wheels anymore. the engine was running but no drag! i looked under the car and i could see that the axel was spinning .. is there any ideas regaring what the problem could be ? and maybe a prize on what the cost would be to get it fixed ! thanks in advance Best Regards Polle | |

Hi Poul! I hope I´m able to help you! If you saw the drive shaft spinning but had no wheel movement I´m certain that it´s the final differential that has retired itself. If you are somewhat of a mechanics yourself the job doesn´t take to long, maybe you can at least find the problem by removing the differential cover hopefully without removing the diff itself, just be sure you drain it of oil first! If you´re that far look at the pinion (the small "wheel") and if it´s missing a part, I believe that could be your problem! If you look in BMWbörsen on this site you may find a differential in a pricerange between 2.000-5.000 skr. I can´t recall seeing one for a 750 but maybe one from a 5-series will fit, check with a local BMW-workshop. Otherwise you can try to find one in Sweden on www.bildelsbasen.se where many insurance cars are placed on different scrapyards. Concerning the job itself if you can´t handle it I recommend you to turn to a small non-indepedent workshop where I guess the could help you for around 2.000-3.000 skr, at least in sweden I think those prices count. Hi Rawlaw I Appreciate your help. i have been notified that the local workshop on Statoil is handled by a educated BMW mechanic so i have contacted him. he will have a look at it and advise me what the problem is and maybe have it solved. i will get back to all you with the final in this and maybe i will see you all to a little battle on E4 Best Regards Polle |
