Här är vad Jörg på Hartge skrev i ett mail:
I would like to alert you to incorrect reports in the several other car
magazines (including the January 2001 edition of BMW Car magazine) about a
blue BMW E-46 with a V8 engine, which - much to our horror - is claimed to
be built by a company called Racing Dynamics. It is in fact is a Hartge
H50.

As you might know, Hartge GmbH & Co. KG has been a registered German auto
manufacturer since 1985. To get a registration for a car like this, one
must
obtain the approval from the German Kraftfahrzeug Bundesamt (KBA). After
production, the German TÜV (Technischer Überwachungs Verein) will perform
an
end inspection of the car, and change the VIN number and the name of the
car
manufacturer. In this case, the car is officially known as a Hartge Type
H50.

Please let me explain how this fake Racing Dynamics car came into being:

One of our customers sold his H50. At the Nordschleife (a German racetrack)
an employee of Racing Dynamics approached the new owner of the H50. This
employee asked if he would hire out his car to be displayed by Racing
Dynamics at the Essen Motorshow. The man agreed to lend his H50 to Racing
Dynamics.

Racing Dynamics then switched out the front spoiler, wheel/tire
combination,
and various interior Hartge parts. Then they added Racing Dynamics decals
to
the car. They even put a sticker over the VIN number and engine compartment
Hartge badge. After this "transformation" the car was renamed a "Tornado
R-50", even though, by any measure, the car is still a Hartge H50.

Racing Dynamics then presented this car as an original product of theirs at
the Essen Motorshow. They also use pictures of this car for promotion on
their Web site and various in other forms. Our concern is that Racing
Dynamics is resorting to trickery in order to boost their reputation among
the media and the public - all at the expense of Hartge's research, design,
and manufacturing efforts, and well-earned reputation.

After the show the original owner received his car back in the original
Hartge H50 look.

In the March of 2000 edition of BMW Car magazine there was a cover story of
the Hartge H50 and several pages devoted to the car in this edition.

In conclusion, please be weary of any publicity materials about Racing
Dynamics which might come across your desk in the future to be sure that
what you're not actually seeing the product of Hartge or some other
original
manufacturer.
