Finns det något man bör kolla extra noga på en m5 e34 gentemot andra e34or? Hur pass slitstarka är dessa? Bromsar, stötdämpare osv är det helt andra grejjer än "vanliga" e34:or? Fördelar/Nackdelar 3,6 och 3,8? Mvh | |

finns massvis med trådar om detta, testa sökfunktionen, finns mängder med matnyttigt att hitta där om just det du söker. Mvh Peter |

Du bör kolla och leta väldigt noga om du vill vara säker på att du får ett fint exemplar. När du hittat några bilar du e sugen på så starta en tråd och rådfråga folk. Det finns oftast någon som vet någon om just den bilen du frågar om. Sköts dom rätt så är dom väldigt slitstarka. Dock har dom flesta exemplar haft någon/några ägare som slarvat med service och varmkörning. Som alla tunga stora BMW's så slits bromsarna fort. Det är något man får räkna med. Dämparna är viktiga att kolla upp så att dom fungerar som dom ska. Vissa bilar har nivåreglering och vissa inte. |

petrus1986 You should look at a few things:- -EDC dampers - check for leaks as they are expensive ät around 7-8000kr each. -Check the timing chain tensioner - if in doubt change it, it can cause rather expensive repair bills! -The most expensive maintenance costs are brakes and pads, and servicing especially the Valve Clearances There are other little things such as most of the steering boxes have about a 1cm slop on them, you may need rubber bushings from time to time depending on your driving styles and where you use the car. Overall as mentioned above its a strong car with less troubles than the newer E39 (this is what I was told by two BMW mechanics - its not my opinion). It also consumes a litre of oil every 1500-2000km's, average fuel consumption is around 1.4litres per mil, includes town driving. I would go for for the 3,8litre, unless you want to tune it, then I would go for the 3,6 as it is less stressed. Good luck with your choice. |

| Schrickm5: How much do your H&R springs lower in the front? Do you have lowering springs in the back too? I will also replace all my EDC shocks to new ones in the future and im not sure if i want to lower or not, i dont want to shorten the lifetime of the new schocks thats for sure. But if the H&R lowering is a moderate one (as far as i can tell from your pics) then that would be an interesting option... | |

Yes I have them all round. It is highly advisable to use the same springs all round, I believe the car will be unstable if not. The front lowered by 30mm, the rear is not lowered, you need to use the self leveling to lower it by 10mm. I would reccomend keeping the EDC as it is really a great system, great for road use and sufficient for the odd blast down the track too. Once you have the springs put on - I cannot advise you strongly enough to do a four wheel alignment at BMW. |

| Schrickm5: I will keep EDC for sure. Luckily my struts are in good condition but i recon that there will be a noticeable difference with new struts and springs | |

Dawwe Yes there will be a noticeable difference depending on the mileage of the older parts. Good to hear you are sticking to EDC original shocks. |
