Kom över detta i min mail: German engineers...we have a problem Yesterday i was bored so i decided to get in my '03 745Li and "explore". Sadly, i came across something that sadden me deeply. Can someone tell me why i was able to start and drive my car without using the remote key? This is what i did: 1. I inserted a piece of card board in the remote key slot just to see what will happen. 2. The radio and navigation came on but a warning message pop-up saying "Engine cannot run due to remote key not inserted". Interesting enougth the radio was working fine and the NAV was operational and all this time the only thing in the remote key slot is a piece of card board. 3. I now pushed the card board further down the remote key slot and guess what happened when i pushed the Start button??? You guessed right...the engine rev up. My mouth was wide open because there should be no way the engine should run without the authorized remote key in a car that cost over $70K. 4. I then put the transmission in drive with my one hand pressing on the card board in the remote Key slot and drove around for more than 10 mins doing over 60 MPH. Ever since i've had my car, i thought there's some type of electronice/secure authentication between the engine and the remote key that will only start the engine if the key match some code in the engine but now i guess i was wrong. I urge each and everyone of you to give this a try and lets petition BMW of NA, LLC to do something about this because it's a BIG security flaw. I think the only thing the remote key is good for is to unlock the car. If you leave your car unlock someone can insert something into the remote key slot and drive your car away without the key. This works on all 7 series that uses the remote key slot. Hope am not the only one with this security flaw. *BAWORAK* | |

// Erik |
